Essential facts

The Centre for Applied Mathematics is a research centre of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris.

It was founded in 1976 at the same time as the Sophia Antipolis science and technology park where it is located.

It is part of the Mathematics and Systems department.

It has been run by Nadia MAÏZI since 2000.

Key dates of the CMA:

- Creation in 1999 of the advanced-Master's in Energy Systems Optimization (OSE).
It welcomed its first OSE class in October 2000.
This Post-Master’s course has an annual intake of 16 to 20 students.

- Creation in December 2008 of the Modeling for Sustainable Development Chair (MPDD) run by the écoles MINES ParisTech, École des Ponts ParisTech, AgroParisTech, the PRES ParisTech, the Fondation de l’École des Ponts and the Fondation MINES ParisTech (former FI3M),  in partnership with the ADEME, EDF, RENAULT, SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC and TOTAL.

- Since 2008 the CMA has been the benchmark laboratory for France in the IEA’s (International Energy Agency) ETSAP program, appointed by DGEMP and ADEME.
